“It’s really hard to explain what I experienced, but here is a glimpse of what I saw,” Clemens Wirth writes in the introduction to his short film, Memories of South Asia.
What follows is a dreamlike sequence of striking, sensory mages from his visits to Nepal, India and Sri Lanka. A monkey moves its head slowly as it turns, inviting you to look at the breathtaking vista behind it, a little boy is chasing bubbles, prayer flags flutter in the wind, cows cross a hanging bridge at dusk. Wirth knows how to pick ordinary yet poetic moments.
David A. Molina’s music, Chasing Time, provides the perfect accompaniment.
