Narcissus Garden, 1966 to present, by Japanese avant garde artist Yayoi Kusama. The silver balls represent the moon, sunshine, peace, the union of man and nature, says Kusama. “When people see their reflection multiplied to infinity, they sense that there is no limit to man’s ability to project himself [herself] into endless space.”

But if you simply can’t get enough of  your endless reflection, you’re clearly a narcissist, she says. Hence, Narcissus Garden.
